The life and death of Colonel Blimp

6 march
The film will be introduced by Anna Pasetti

(GB 1943) Directed by Michael Powell, Emeric Pressburger, starring Deborah Kerr, Anton Walbrook, color, duration: 163', 35mm OV with Italian subtitles

Powell and Pressburger's absolute masterpiece and their first film shot in Technicolor, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp recounts forty years of European history through the friendship between a British and a German officer, who find themselves on opposite sides sharing the same idea of honor and integrity, as well as loving the same woman. A film of rare visual power and narrative unscrupulousness, it was heavily cut at the time but is presented here in its unabridged version.
