One of the most heavily persecuted films in the history of Italian cinema is screened here in a director’s cut edition thanks to the Cineteca Nazionale’s restoration of the sole copy to have survived in the version devised by the director before the censor’s axe fell on it. Rediscovered in a bundle of film material abandoned in a railway yard, the original version of Pasolini’s episode contains a number of images and dialogues that were later cut or altered.
