A fascination with animals, insects and other creatures, fuelled by fantasy and symbology, is as much a part of the work of artists of the past as it is of contemporary artists' work. From Chiara Camoni's fairy-tale figures printed on silk to Mario Merz's crocodile, we reflect on an imaginary world in which art and the natural sciences come together to interweave the real with the fantastic.
