Stella Dallas

20 february
The film will be introduced by Patrizia Pistagnesi

(USA 1937) Directed by King Vidor, starring Barbara Stanwyck, John Boles, Anne Shirley, b/w, duration: 106', 35mm OV with Italian subtitles

Stella Dallas, a small-town factory worker, marries a wealthy man, but the class difference eventually wears down the relationship between the two. To protect her daughter, however, Stella will have to make a difficult decision. Based on the novel of the same name, previously brought to the screen by Henry King in 1925, this poignant melodrama owes everything to the outstanding performance of Barbara Stanwyck, whose Stella is one of the most emblematic roles of her career.
