Nu offers spectators an experience of nudity in its most direct form. Invited by a dancer to an undressing ceremony in a confined space, the spectator witnesses a dancing body in all its essentiality. Ioannis Mandafounis addresses the issue of nudity in search of innovative answers to a theme ceaselessly explored by contemporary dance over the decades, while at the same time he seeks to divest the relationship between performer and spectator of every possible form of theatrical prop.
 
Ioannis Mandafounis moved to Frankfurt to join the Forsythe Company in 2005 after working with the Göteborg Ballet and the Nederlands Dans Theater, two of Europe's most important dance companies. He left the Frankfurt company in order to be able to continue producing his own projects and to teach and to train with other dancers around Europe. He has performed his own work in many theatres and festivals in Europe including: Montpellier Danse, the International Dance Festival in Athens, the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, the Rencontres Choregraphiques de Seine-Saint-Denis, Paris, the Kalamata International Dance Festival, the Tanz Piattaforma in Essen, the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and Bockenheimer Depot in Frankfurt), the Kunsthalle in Baden-Baden, the Schauspielehaus in Dresden and others.
